Are You Empowering Your Light?

When was the last time you wake up early to watch the morning sun rise?


I sometimes wake up at 5am as I enjoy the freshness of the morning. That’s when I am still and quiet to listen to my inner voice and the voice of the Spirit.


Apart from hearing the happy chirps of the birds, I also get to see he changing colors of the morning sky.  Then the awakening of a new day!


When the first shy ray breaks into morning light; darkness fades away unnoticeably and 
a new day dawns.  And I am energized to start a new chapter. I get to compose the rest of my story my way.


I get to decide how I want to live this day.


I can choose to be productive and happy or I can choose to procrastinate
and look for excuses to justify my inactions.
Sometimes these excuses can even sound very noble and convincing.


I get to decide how I want to live this day. 
I can face my issues or I can convince myself that there really isn’t any concerns.


I can choose to take action on my plans or I can allow my negative self talk to take me out of the game before I even start.


What will you choose today?


You can either empower yourself and take responsibility for your own choices or
You can dis-empower yourself by making yourself a victim of circumstances.
And do you sometimes even start taking responsibility for others’ action?
That definitely disempowers.


If that is happening then it is time to release yourself of the unnecessary burden.
You can only take responsibility for your own actions, not others.
There is no need to beat yourself up unnecessarily.


We are all responsible for our own actions and decisions whether you acknowledge this or not.


Take control of your own thoughts, feelings, and action today and let others be responsible for their own choices.


Empower yourself and let you light shine.


At the end of the day, will your light sustain or will darkness prevail?
I guess the choice is up to you.

Balanced Success Doing What You Enjoy?

Some of you may know that Karen Cappello is one of my mentor and coach (yes I learn from many different mentors).   We often talk of creating success.   One day I ask Karen if I can interview her and this audio came into being.


Some questions I have for Karen include the following:

Karen thinks it is possible to have success with ease and joy. And I just realize that I too believe in this as I promote Success Without The Stress. No wonder we clicked and bonded so easily.

Do You Tend and Befriend?

OK I realize that I had not writing the past few weeks!
And all that family gathering and celebration has been great and I am aching to get back in the groove of things.


Recently, I received two invitations to speak in July.
The interesting thing is that they both fall on the same day.
 
They are both from women associations. 
The topic are also similar – about relationships in the family.
And of course they are also both to be delivered in Mandarin.


I guess I cannot really generalize from this experience but it does seem that the women are in general more aware of the need to address issues of relationships, at least in the Chinese community of Malaysia.


In recent Coffee Talks, the conversations revolved around stress caused by relationship with the father, the mother, the spouse and yes the children.  Yes, these are women with adult children who we are still stressed out by relationship tensions in the family.


While the boys are feeling the heat with increasing performance demand at work in this economic condition the girls seem to be more affected by relationships issue perhaps also indirectly brought about by the current economic situation.


If it is not relationship with the family then it is with the employer or clients or business partners.  This network of people in their lives seem to give the byproduct of potential angst!


While some chose to internalize the tensions and emotions others are avoiding the issue, pretending that they do not exist.  Yet others want to confront the issues but they do not know how or where to start.


The good old fight or flight response still holds true today. Yet there is another theory that now suggests that women tend to deal with stress by taking care of their loved ones, or by leaning on a friend or family member for support.  Dr Shelly E. Taylor, PhD, a distinguished professor in the department of psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles calls this the tend and befriend strategy.

Dr Taylor finds that women often seek support to talk out the emotional experience, to process what is happening and what might be done.


Men seem to deal with stress in a different way. Whatever way we choose to use, you want to have those stress under control.  If left unchecked, the internalizing of these stress will lead to health issues such as lethargy, insomnia, high blood pressure exhaustion and ill health
