The Abundant Lives Coaching Fan Page

February 24, 2010

I finally decided to launch it. This is following the "Ready, Fire, Aim" approach or the Progress versus Perfection approach. As I mentioned elsewhere, it is easy to be paralyzed by the need to be perfect, yet what is more important is the momentum and the consistency. Enters the Abundant Lives Coaching Fan Page.

Consider this a soft launch. There is still some work to be done but the basic structures are there for a meaningful community to discuss, mingle and share information and views relating to achieving a more fulfilling, satisfying and abundant life.

Why a Fan Page? It allows for more timely and frequent updates compared to a blog post. And it also provides easy access for others on facebook to interact with each other on the topic of their interest. This fanpage complements the blog posts and is an extension of it in a way.

I would encourage you to join me at the Fan Page as I will be spending a fair bit more time there. You will find more frequent updates on events, discussions, and it is really a community that interact with others with the same interests. It is estimated that there are now 400 millions users on Facebook, who log on at least twice a day.

On the Fan Page, you can share your own views, your links, your videos, and photos or you can choose to just read. I encourage you to participate, leave a comment, give a thumbs up or click the "like" link or share it with others. If you find something of value, pass it on.

Facebook, contrary to what many think, has more mature users than youngsters. While the profile page is for personal use, to stay in touch with friends and family, the Fan Page is more a resource, convergent place for all to mingle and have a conversation.

So check out the Abundant Lives Coaching Fan Page. If you like what you read here on the blog post, you will find more activities on the fan page.  Just hop over and join me on the fan page and share that link with your friends too and I will see you there!

Your Criteria For A Life Coach

February 22, 2010

cc 300x230 Your Criteria For A Life CoachTwo weeks ago I asked for your feedback on what you look for in a coach.

And as you generously provided your input I am sharing the results with you here.

I hope the graph is not too small. You can see that they come very close to each other.

Among the list include the following:
1  -  Experience
2  -  Credentials
3  -  Inspirational
4  -  Formerly Trained
5  -  With Proven Results
6  -  Upholding Code of Ethics
7  -  Questioning Skills
8  -  Listening Ears
9  -  Authentic, with Integrity
10 – Desire To Make a Difference To Others

Top of the list is a tie between A Desire To Make A Difference and Upholding A Code Of Ethics. Next, we have another tie, all 4 have the same number of votes: Authenticity and Integrity, Listening Ears, Experience and Those with Proven Results. Credentials came in with the least vote – 4% chose this as a criteria.

This provides great data for me, food for thought for another post! What stands out is not surprising; people are looking for coaches, trainers and leaders who want to and can make a difference, who care for and hold themselves accountable to a code of ethics. Credentials and certification is not in their map.

And that brings me to another poll. I have been thinking about how I can best support you as my loyal readers and subscribers.

I have great content to share with you and I want them to address your most pressing and specific need now. So instead of guessing what may be helpful, I rather hear from you personally. That way I can provide the most relevant support in making a difference to your life now. What would you want to see more of in the articles and training programs that I design?

- Are you seeking to live a more healthy life, get fit and grounded/calm?
- Are you trying to figure out a way to balance productive work and quality life?
- Are you trying to build your business with an online presence and are a little frustrated, disappointed or stuck in your online ventures?
- Are you toying with the idea of having a part time Coaching / Training practice so you can transition into it when you are ready?

Choose "Others" and write in free text in the comment below if what you have in mind is not listed. I will see what I can do to bring you the support that will make the most difference to your endeavour now. Thanks!

Feel free to make use of the comments in this post to send in your request. If you want some free tips on what you are looking for, leave me your input. When I see enough comments with a common thread I will post some free tips training here.

And eh remember to press the "Share This" button or retweet this if you find this to be helpful.

An Inspirational Video On Life And Its Transitions

February 22, 2010

I like to start my day with a nice, hot cup of coffee.  Ok, I know, not the most healthy thing to do but I allow myself 1 cup a day!

One day I chanced upon this video which so elegantly paints the analogy of life that I just want to share it with you. So go grab your favorite cuppa and enjoy the message here.

By the way, do you have a favorite cup that you use? I know I do. Perhaps try using different cups and see how that feels? That is you in transition. But it is the same coffee, the same you, just a different container surrounding you for the moment.

Hopefully this will help us see external changes (which are beyond our control) as they are. However, do get a good strong cup though, one that holds the coffee well and without cracks.

What do you like most about the video message?
The message that spoke to me is this:
That who we are, and the life that we live is not defined by the environment we find ourselves in – not our jobs (for those in between jobs or starting up your own businesses), not our career or marital statuses (for those in transition and adapting to new phase in life), not even how many followers we have on twitter or facebook!

We are the same person in all these changing circumstances and transitions. Just continue to send off the sweet aroma of life in whatever cup that is holding you now (things do and will change).  Live simply, speak kindly, care deeply, love generously! A great tip to manage your work stress!

Nothing against nice China porcelain cups, but whatever cup you are using now is fine. Coffee Lovers go for the aroma and the taste and not the cup!

You can join me here for the most recent updates as I am spending a little more time on facebook, it allows for quick updates when I do not have time to write a full length article. Oh and do press the share this button or retweet this to pass on this beautiful message!
